I had guests from the foreign countries and we visited the Imperial Palace and the Shugakuin Rikyu Imperial Villa. In the Imperial Palace, there are Sento Gosho Palace and the guesthouse too, and they are managed by Imperial Household Agency as national properties. I had an opportunity to visit the guesthouse last year too.

It is so quiet as to forget outside noise when Imperial Palace or Shugaku-in Rikyu Imperial Villa enter in there. We do not see any modern building from anywhere when we enter inside.

These buildings were saved by traditional technique and the fusion of the modern technique. And many architecture style were harmonised in there. We can recognize that splendid Japanese architecture technique and high skill in details.

When I visited the overseas friend’s house, I saw futon and making a tea with Nanbu iron. It is a kind like cultural shock. We were interested by other countries’s culture each other, and bring in own lifestyle too.

I was thinking which wisdom, technique or culture that we should leave or throw away while strolling in the Imperial Palace.
