I found interesting web sites. These call [World Clock] and [Food Clock]. You can setting the numerical value yearly, monthly, weekly daily and present. The [World Clock] shows numbers of World Population, Forest Cut, Forest Replanted, Cars Produced, CO2 Emissions, and more. Above all, the most increasing number is the Military Expenditure. The second is Oil Pumped. On the [Food Clock], you can see the consumption number of food. The fastest consuming food is chicken. You can see and have a glimpse of what happens in the world through the numerical value.

興味深いグラフを見つけました(Graphe A) 。急激に数値が垂直上昇しているのがわかります。地球の気温上昇(Graph B)や二酸化炭素濃度のグラフに似ていますが、これは、ドルの通貨量のグラフです。アメリカは、これまでにもドルを刷り続けてきましたが、2008年の終わりに急激に数値が跳ね上がっています。この金融危機を乗り越える施策として、また大胆な量を刷ってしまったのでしょうか？そして、ドル通貨価値は、現在下がり続けています。

この急激なグラフの変化は何を意味するのでしょう？経済的なことに疎い自分にも、そしてその他の人にも、異常であるということくらいはわかりそうなグラフではないでしょうか。この世界的金融危機は入り口なのでは？と考えてもおかしくないような動きです。

アメリカのベビーブーマー世代の方々が定年退職にはいります。アメリカの年金は、主に401(k)というシステムをとっていることが多いといいます。そして、その運用は、株式です。この金融危機で株式は暴落し、受け取り金額がすでに目減りしています。そして、多くの人々が退職後の生活費を引き出しはじめると、さらに株価の下落を招く・・・という警告は以前から伝えられていました。もし、それが起これば、これらの現象は、世界にも大きく影響をあたえるでしょう。

アメリカ第44代大統領が誕生しました。大きな難題、試練を抱え、今後の政治的手腕に注目が集まっています。オバマ大統領に対する期待と人気は、一目瞭然です。『今私たちに求められているのは、新たな責任の時代だ。』と就任演説で訴えかけていました。『わたしたちは恐れより希望を、対立や不和より目的を共有することを選び、ここに集まった。すべての人は平等かつ自由で幸福を最大限に追求する機会に値するというのは神から与えられた約束だ。』これらの力強く、人々を奮いたたせるメーセージが人々の心に届いたのでしょう。これほど多くの人々の心を結びつける事ができたのは、人種差別を超越したという理由だけでなく、ケネディ大統領の歴史的なスピーチ『あなたの国家があなたのために何をしてくれるかではなく、あなたがあなたの国家のために何ができるかを問おうではないか』のようにさらに奥深い真理にも触れたのではないかという気がします。

1月26日は、旧正月です。2009年に入って最初の新月です。東南アジアの多くの国々では、最も重要な祝祭日です。新しいアメリカ大統領の就任とも重なって、確実に新たな時代に入っていくように感じます。このような社会状況のなか、自分にできる範囲で微力ながら貢献できることを模索しつづけています。

I found an interesting graph(Graphe A). We can recognize that numerical value suddenly rises vertically. It resembles like the earth's surface temperature graph (Graph B) or something, but this is a graph of the adjusted monetary base in dollar. U.S.A. continued printing the dollar so far, but numerical value suddenly jumps up at the end of 2008. As a measure to get over this financial crisis, have they printed massive quantity? And the dollar monetary value continues falling.

What does the graph mean? Perhaps, everyone understand that some abnormal thing is happening even me or someone who don't know well about economical matters. It can doubt that this world financial crisis is an entrance. It is not strange even if I think so.

American baby boomer generation begins retirement. The American pension tends to take the 401(k) system mainly, and it is managed by stocks. The stock market index slumped by the financial crisis, and the receipt amount of pension has already decreased. When many people began to draw for cost of living after the retirement, the stock prices will fall again, the warning was conveyed before. If it happens, the phenomenon will affect to the world too.

The 44th U.S. President Barak Obama inaugurated. He has an attention his statesmanship from all over the world. The President Obama's popularity and hope are clear at a glance. "What is required of us now is new era of responsibility" he said in the inaugural address. "We gather because we chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. the God - given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness." I think these messages brace people up powerfully would touch to hearts of people. What he was able to tie the heart of such many people to, I think that there may be the truth that there is not only the reason that transcended racial discrimination, like a speech of the President Kennedy "ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country".

The 26th January is the lunar New Year. It is the first new moon in 2009, and most important holiday in the southeastern Asian countries. The inauguration of the new U.S. president synchronizes, I feel surely like going in the new era. In such as the social conditions, I continue groping for that things I can contribute in my range even though an insignificant power.

「チョコレートの真実」キャロル・オフ著（英治出版）という本を読みました。著者は、アフリカ、アジア、ヨーロッパについてのCBCテレビ・ドキュメンタリーで数多くの賞を受賞しているジャーナリストです。人を魅惑する甘いチョコレートの裏の苦い現実をカカオの歴史とともに描かれたドキュメンタリーリポートです。

神々の食べ物と称されたカカオは、マヤ人達の通貨として使われるほど価値の高いものでした。3000年以上前にさかのぼるカカオの歴史から、カカオをめぐる奴隷制の背景、南アメリカからアフリカへのカカオ生産の移転の経緯と、コートジボワールのカカオ生産の現状と苦い現実まで、カカオをめぐる歴史が非常にわかりやすく述べられています。ヨーロッパやアフリカ諸国の歴史をまた違う観点で知ることができ、人間の私利、私欲にかられた行動と、その上に形成された国家や企業の表と裏が垣間見ることができます。

ミラノで学生をしていた頃、コートジボワールからの留学生と知り合いになったことがあります。1995年頃だったと思いますが、ココア色の肌にくりくりとした目、くったくのない笑顔の彼は、ファッションを勉強しにミラノに来ていました。コートジボワールがアフリカの中でも経済的な成功を収め、生活水準も高かった国でありながらも、その後、先物取引操作によるカカオ豆の暴落によって現代の腐敗した社会へと辿る過程にあったことをその頃は露ほどにも知らず、コートジボワール（象牙海岸）というエスニックな名前の響きだけがとても強い印象を残していました。

タイを背景にした坂本順治監督の映画「闇の子供たち」もそうですが、貧困の世界で、人間の私利私欲の犠牲になるのは、たいてい何の罪もない子供たちや教育を受けていない人達。このような現実が現代においてもなお、地球の裏側で実際におこっているということ。また、それらの犠牲の上にカカオやコーヒー、綿花、砂糖というものを安価で消費できる私たちの生活があるということについて、一考してみるよい機会でした。

イギリスの消費者意識の高まりによって展開されたフェアトレード製品は、受け入れられる層が増えてきているのは事実ですが、フェアトレード、オーガニックといったそれらの産業の多くは、従来の巨大企業に買収されていっている現実があることも事実です。

マヤで通貨価値があるほど貴重とされた食物、カカオ。現代の国際通貨はドルでしょうか？ユーロ？それとも、貨幣価値の信用の減退にともない貨幣に変わる価値を持つのはゴールドでしょうか。チョコレートの歴史をたどって知った奴隷制の成り立ちと今回のアメリカ大統領選挙をオーバラップして見ずにはいられませんでした。利得に群がる人の業はいつの世もつきないようで、スウィートの裏にあるビターな現実は常に隣合わせに存在しています。陰陽の世界は、恐らく変わらずに存在し続けるのではないかと思うのですが、その中で自分はどの側面を見、どこに意識をおくのかによって、同じ世界に暮していても世界観が全く違ってくるのでしょう。マヤ文明からの歴史をカカオを通して鳥瞰できた良書でした。

I read a book "Bitter Chocolate" written by Carol Off. The author who wins many prizes in CBC television documentary about Africa, Asia and Europe is a journalist. The book is a documentary report through the history of cacao about the bitter reality behind most seductive sweet chocolate.

The cacao called "the food of Gods" was a highest value food as to be a currency of Maya. From the history of a cacao dating back more than 3000 years ago to the present conditions the Ivory Coast cacao production, background of the slavery, the process of the move of cacao production from South America to Africa, and the history around the cacao were written very intelligibly. It can understand the history of Europe and African countries again at a different point of view and have a glimpse of the outside and the inside of nations and companies formed by human personal gain and an action seized with self-interest.

When I was a student in Milan, there was a student from Cote d'Ivoire. I thought that it was around 1995, he who has cocoa color skin, big round eyes and the pure smile came to Milan to study fashion. I remember that the sound called Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) was very exotic and impressive for me. I did not know that Cote d'Ivoire had gained economic success in Africa, and even though the high living standard level country, it had been in process to corrupt society by slump of the cacao bean price afterwards.

The documentary film in Thailand "Children of the darkness" (I don't know the official title in English) by Junji Sakamoto is so, people who are sacrificed by poverty or the human self interest are children and non educated people usually. Such the reality is still really happening in Down Under in the present age. It was a good opportunity to think about our life consuming cheap cacao, coffee, raw cotton and sugar on those sacrifices.

A matter of fact, the fair trade products that developed in UK is getting surge the number of accepted consumers, but it is also a fact that most of those industries; fair trade product companies and organic industry companies, were acquired by conventional mega companies.

The cacao was valuable and monetary value in Maya. What is the most trusted international currency for now?  the dollars? or the euro? If these currencies loses trust, will it be the gold? As for this American presidential election, it over lapped that I followed the history of cacao. The human behavior around the gain does not seem to run out in the world. There is the bitter reality in the backside of sweet surface always. I think the world of Yin and Yang probably to continue being it in same balance, but it will be different the world depend on which side we watch and where put our consciousness even we live in the same world. It was an excellent book that could see in bird's eyes view through cacao history from the Maya civilization.

水星が逆行しているらしい。この水星の逆行とは、実際に天体が軌道を逆行するのではなく、地球から見ると逆行しているように見える現象のことです。電車や車などに乗っていて、早い車や電車に追い越される時に後退していると感じる現象で、実際に逆行しているのではないそうです。

占星術によると水星の逆行時には、コンピューターなどの通信機器の故障や、人とのコンタクトの滞り、物事の延滞などが起こりやすいと言われています。実際に、普段使っていたメインコンピューターが壊れてしまいました。突然、電源が落ちるという事態が何度も起こり、使えなくなってしまったのです。人のバイオリズムにも影響する満月や潮の満ち引きなど、他にも天体が私たちに及ぼす影響は数知れずあり、古代から星の動きや周期などを元にした道具や建築、都市に至るまでさまざまなものが作られてきました。

コンピュータートラブルの原因が水星かどうかは別にしても、天体や自然の摂理は、私たちの生活に与える影響は少なからずあります。日本でも自然の摂理を生活に取り入れた暮らしをしてきているし、他諸国でもそれらをベースにしているところがほとんどではないでしょうか。けれど、あまりにも便利なものに溢れた都会においては、自然のリズムや摂理から離れ、それにともなって人間の感覚や本能が失われて行っているように感じます。いろいろな国の人と接してきた中で、本当に感覚の鋭いというか、敏感というか、人間アンテナとでもいうような人がいるものです。それが、本来、自然な姿だったのかもしれません。

昨今、アメリカの金融危機がメディアを賑わし、各国にも影響を与えています。膨張したものは収縮し、もとの摂理に戻ろうとするのは、まったく自然であるように思います。経済緊急援助がされようとなかろうと、アメリカの金融問題や景気減退の影響は、今後大きく物事の変化としてでてくるでしょうし、私たちの生活や考え方にも影響するでしょう。大きな変化の真っただ中にいるように思います。

ちまたにはモノやサービスが溢れかえっていますが、今後、人々の思考の変化によって淘汰されていくものも多いでしょう。しかし、変化の時こそ新たな考えやモノが生み出されるチャンスでもあり、変化の産物が表面化してくること、それもまた自然。このような時だからこそ、もっと感覚を磨いていきたいものです。次世代の新たな知やデザインが今から楽しみです。

The Mercury seems to retrograde. The heavenly body doesn't really move back on orbit, it is the phenomenon that seems to retrograde seeing from the Earth. An earlier car overtaken us when we are car, we feel going back, it is the same phenomenon, so it does not retrograde actually.

According to astrology, at the time of the Mercury retrograde, they say there may be some troubles of communication equipment such as computers and contact with people or things are delayed. The main computer which I usually used has been really broken recently. The power supply downed suddenly and it was not usable. I don't know it caused by the Mercury or not, but there is the influence that the natural world give to us something, like the full moon which influence our biorhythm and tide. Various things like tools, architectures or urban structure which were considered the movement of heavenly bodies have been made from the ancient times.

We are living in natural providence. Original Japanese life are based on them, I think many other countries are same too. However, in the city, there are too convenient things, and natural rhythm and providence are having distance. While I contact people from various countries, I felt there are persons who really have sharp sense and perceptiveness, like an antenna. It may have been a natural figure.

 The American financial crisis was reported and influences to many countries these days. The things which expanded shrinks to return to the original providence, I think it is totally natural. Even though the economic bailout was executed, the issue of American finance and business recession influence to our life directly afterward. I think that we are in the center of big change.

Things and services are overflowing in daily life, but they will be selected by the change of people's thought. However, it is the chance to produce new ideas, services and things at the time of change, and coming up something new, it is natural, too. I would like to polish more senses because it is such time. I look forward to coming up and seeing new intellect of the world in near future.

先日、きれいなチョッコラータ・カルダのパッケージを見つけたので、思わず買ってしまいました。日本では、ホットチョコレートといわれているものです。アールデコ調のパッケージで、ウィリアム・モリスを思い出させせる素敵なデザイン。ほかにもラズベリーとブルーの色がありました。オランダあたりのものかと思ったら、イタリア系アメリカ人の会社がつくっているもので、Made in USAでした。

季節はずれですが、Chocolate Truffle　と　Caramel Pralineを飲んでみました。Caramelのほうは少し甘すぎ。冬だったら、ちょうどよかったのかもしれないですね。

ところで、この原料になっているカカオですが、主な原産国は中南米、東南アジア、西アフリカなどです。その生産には、多くの児童労働と不平等な貿易が関わっていることをご存知でしたか。私たちが安価でチョコを入手できるのも、そのような理由からです。ILOによると、２億人以上の子供が児童労働者として働いています。フェアートレードというのは、このような現状を改善するために公正な労働や適正価格での取引をすることをいいます。私たちの身の回りの生活が地球の裏側で生活している人とつながっています。完全な社会というのはないかもしれません。けれど、現状を知ることからすべてはじまるのではないかと思います。

Hot Chocolate

I found a beautiful hot chocolate drink package, and I bought it. It is wonderful Art Deco style package design and reminds me of William Morris. There were a raspberry else and a blue color too. I thought it was a thing from the Netherlands, but it was made by an Italian American company, and Made in USA.

It was out of season, but drank Chocolate Truffle and Caramel Praline. Caramel was too sweet for me. In winter, it may be good.

By the way, cacao is these raw materials, and the main country of origin is Central and South America, Southeast Asia, West Africa. Did you know that many children labor and unequal trade concerned the production? It is a reason that we can get cheap chocolate. According to ILO, more than 200,000,000 children work as a child laborer. The fair trade is to do business with fair labors and the value price to improve such present conditions. Our personal life is connected to people who living in other side of the earth. There may not be the complete society, but I think that it begins to know the present conditions.

「百億の星と千億の生命」カール・セーガン博士の最後の著書となった本を読みました。セーガン博士は、コーネル大学の天文宇宙科学の教授であり、天文学と生物学に通暁した科学者として、天文学上の多くの謎の解明から、惑星大気、惑星表面、地球の歴史、宇宙生物学の研究に多大な貢献をした方です。この本は、宇宙の話というよりは、地球温暖化、中絶問題、政治やモラル的な話が多いのですが、病床にありながら書き綴った著書には、愛のこもったメッセージと啓示と情熱が込められています。

まだまだ多くの問題を抱える私たちに指針を与え、また、地球の現状を科学者の視点でわかりやすく教えてくれる、すばらしい一冊だと思います。映画の「コンタクト」の作者であったり、彼の著書でピューリッツァー賞を受賞するなど、天文学という専門分野を超えて、生物学、自然学にとどまらず、多くの学問に精通し、人類の行く末を論じことのできる逸材の科学者です。その知識人と同世代に生き、彼らの仕事に触れることができることに大きな喜びを感じます。彼の残した業績と勇気のある行動が実を結んで、彼の唱える正しい方向に世界が向かうよう心から願うと同時に微力ながら何らかの力になれればという思いを強くさせてくれた一冊です。

Billions & Billions

I read the book which became the last of Carl Sagan "Billions & Billions". Carl Sagan is a professor of astronomy space science of Cornell University, and contributed greatly for planet atmosphere, planet surface, history of the earth, a study of space biology and elucidation of many astronomical mysteries as a scientist who is knowledgeable about astronomy and biology.

As for this book, it was talked wide range topics: global warming, abortion, nature of government, and meaning of morality rather than space, and the book which he wrote while a sickbed has revelation, his passion and message with love. It is wonderful one teaching clarity the present conditions of the world from the viewpoint of a scientist and giving indication us who should face many problems.

He is the author of the film "Contact" and wins Pulitzer Prize with his another book, and mastery biology, natural philosophy and more other intellectual knowledge, furthermore could lecture humanity's future. He is truly brilliant scientist. I feel big joy that can touch their works and could live in his lifetime.

I hope that the achievements and the courageous action that he left are realized, and the world leaves for the right direction that he advocates. At the same time, this book makes me strong thought to be able to help it in spite of being poor ability.

CO2の排出量が20世紀に入り、今までにない数値で急激に増加し、温暖化現象につながっているのですが、Co2の排出量が自分で測れるサイトをみつけました。イギリス政府ものですが、ライフスタイルをゲーム感覚で記入していくと、年間の排出量が計算されます。郵便番号の記入や住宅スタイルの違いなどがあるので、イギリス以外の国では、正確な数字はでてきませんが、自分がどれくらいのCO2を排出しているのかが大体わかります。イギリスの大手スーパーマーケットは、製品にCO2排出量の表示をすると発表しました。さまざまな国で、アクションが見られます。

As we know our carbon footprint suddenly have increased in unprecedented number in the 20^th century and it led to global warming. I found a site that we can calculate CO2 by ourselves. It is the British Government site, we can enter our lifestyle like game, and then it will calculate our annual carbon footprint, but we should enter UK zip code and house-style, so if you are living in out of UK, it does not come out right number. Anyway we can see how much CO2 drains approximately. English supermarket giant Tesco says the company will start providing public information about the carbon footprint of the products on its shelves. We can see some actions in various countries.

ティランジア・ウスネオイデス

仕事関連で、グリーンの葉を検索していて、とても神秘的な植物をみつけました。別名：サルオガセモドキ、グレイバード、ロングモスという植物をご存知でしょうか。スパニッシュ・モスとも呼ばれているようです。パイナップル科チランジア属の植物でエアープランツとして売られています。

根がほとんどなく、銀色の茎？葉？のようなものが長くらせん状にクリンクリンひたすら伸びているなんとも不思議な植物です。アメリカ東南部からアルゼンチンに生息し、生息の姿がみごとな景観をかもしだします。木などに寄生したような形で増えていくようで、長いおじいさんのひげが木の方々の枝に置き忘れられたような、もしくはシルクになる前の繊維状のものが干されているかのような幻想的光景です。

根がないので、空気中の水分と光で育つのですが、寄生している木を枯らすことはほとんどなく、うまく共生しているようです。久し振りにエキセントリックなもの出会った感じです。ぜひ、自然に生息する姿を見てみたいです。

I was looking for the green leafs for my work, and I found a mysterious plant. Do you know a plant called another name Spanish moss? It is a flowering plant in the family Bromeliaceae, the genus Tillandsia, and sold as Air Plants.

There is not root, the plant consists of silver curly leaf or stem, they absorb water from air and rainfall, it is very mysterious figure. It ranges from the southeastern United States to Argentina, the inhabiting figure is wonderful view too. It is growing parasitical, and looks like silk fibers or grand father's mustache are hanging branches. The image is fantastic.

The plant is rarely kills the tree, they are symbiosis well. It is a kind like I encounterd an eccentric thing. I would love to see the natural inhabit figure.

 満地球の出と入

先日、インターネットニュースで地球の出と入りの動画ハイビジョン撮影に成功したとあり、早速のぞきに行ってみました。ハイビジョン撮影は世界初だそうです。「地球の出」という表現は、周回衛星やアポロの宇宙船のように月軌道を回っている状態で観測できる現象で、月面は常に同じ面を地球に向けているので、地球が月面から上がってくる様子を観測することはできないのだそうです。世界初というのは、どんなものかとクリックしてみると、出てきた映像は、満月のお月さまならぬ、満地球とでもいう、本当にきれいな青い星でした。出も入りも見ましたが、出のほうが感慨深いです。"この美しい地球が今、病気に侵されている"と「ガイア- 地球は生きている 」の著者ジェームズ・ラヴロックは言います。地球を殺すも活かすもおそらく個々の中にあることなのでしょう。ついでに宇宙の他の写真ものっていたので、繁々と眺めていたのですが、宇宙は神秘的で、美しいですね。ため息が出ます。こういうものを見ると手の届かない雲の上のマスターの最高傑作を眺めているようです。

There was an internet news that it succeeded in animation high vision photography of earthrise and the set, I went to look up it. The high vision photography seems to be the first among the world.  The expression called "the earthrise" is the phenomenon that we can observe on the surface of the moon in condition to be past lunar orbit like a surroundings satellite and a spaceship of Apollo. The earthrise and set seems not to be able to observe  from the surface of the moon because it faces to the always same side on the earth.

The picture which came out was even all over the ground ball and a really beautiful blue planet. I looked both the rising and the setting, but rising was more impressive.  "This beautiful earth is invaded by some diseases" says James Lovelock, author of Gaia. To keep it alive or to overlook the real, it depends on us.

Incidentally I found the other photographs of the space, the space is mysterious and so beautiful. When I see such a thing, it seems to look at the best masterpiece of the master on clouds can not reach ever.

昨日、入ったこのニュースを見てショックを受けた人がどれくらいいるでしょうか。

地球温暖化は着実に進んでいます。近年、アル・ゴア氏の「不都合な真実」の映画が公開がされるなどして、環境問題に関する、世論への意識はかわりつつあるようですが、今まだ、変化は見えません。このニュースを聞いて少なからずショックを受けたひとりです。このようなニュースを聞いても日常は何もかわりません。変わらないといけないのは、自分が変わることなのでしょう。そして、自分に何かできることは何だろうかと再度向き合うきっかけになりました。

ご紹介が遅れました。ヒロミ・キムです。京都に生まれ、過去１５年間の大半をイタリアで過ごした後、アメリカにも滞在していました。環境問題は、ものをつくる立場として、また一個人としても大変大きな社会問題として捉えていて、割高で、敬遠されがちなリサイクル素材を製品に起用する提案をしたり、エネルギーの削減を目的としたものを作ってみたりということを行ってきましたが、今回のニュースを聞いて愕然としました。

人間は、物事を忘れてしまう生き物です。今回の南極の棚氷の崩壊が何を意味するのか、再度、目を覚まさせられた感じです。行動に移す機会というのはこういうことをいうのでしょうか。様々な勇気ある活動をしている人々の情熱に心を動かされたというのもあるのですが。また、何らかの有益な情報を共有、発信していければと思います。今後ともどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
