「百億の星と千億の生命」カール・セーガン博士の最後の著書となった本を読みました。セーガン博士は、コーネル大学の天文宇宙科学の教授であり、天文学と生物学に通暁した科学者として、天文学上の多くの謎の解明から、惑星大気、惑星表面、地球の歴史、宇宙生物学の研究に多大な貢献をした方です。この本は、宇宙の話というよりは、地球温暖化、中絶問題、政治やモラル的な話が多いのですが、病床にありながら書き綴った著書には、愛のこもったメッセージと啓示と情熱が込められています。
まだまだ多くの問題を抱える私たちに指針を与え、また、地球の現状を科学者の視点でわかりやすく教えてくれる、すばらしい一冊だと思います。映画の「コンタクト
